Recently a parent of a student posted a video on Weibo (China’s version of Twitter) with me teaching her daughter some basic ASL letters. While using ASL is not necessary, anything physical that we can do in class does help kids learn. Getting them to copy signs is one way to help them learn. Notice even in a short clip I use TPR, ASL, props, reward visible in background, speak slowly, correct pronunciation, and repeat multiple times. These are all things that are evaluated during the hiring process and always being noticed by parents who have very high expectations!
